Sailing in Italy

In Italy we sail in the area between Sardinia and Corsica. As Corsica belongs to France, we will not only sail in Italy during the sailing trip but also in French waters. On the southern tip of Corsica is Bonifacio, a stunning town perched on high limestone cliffs and the harbor is in a sheltered fjord behind the cliffs. During our sailing trips, we start from the north-eastern side of Sardinia and sail along the Smeralda coast. Here, chalk-white beaches are interspersed with small exclusive ports.

Off the Smeralda coast is the La Maddalena archipelago, which consists of seven larger islands and several smaller ones. The archipelago is named after the largest of the islands, which is called La Maddalena. The La Maddalena archipelago is a peaceful place with turquoise lagoons, granite cliffs and deserted islands. It also boasts some of the most spectacular beaches in Italy and some of the finest bathing waters. The only way to explore these hidden paradises is by boat. During a week sailing with More Sailing you will experience the best Sardinia and Corsica have to offer. Imagine enjoying good food from both Italian and French cuisine for a week.

Sailing in Italy with crew

During a sailing trip with us at More Sailing, you will experience sailing at its best, without any worries. On board the boat you are in safe hands with the crew who take care of everything. They cook, guide you to hidden coves with crystal clear water, recommend restaurants and sail the boat. You'll have breakfast and lunch on the boat, dinner on your own when you discover the village or island where the boat has docked for the night in the evening. During the sailing trip there are no musts, for your part it is just to relax and enjoy, of course you can participate in the sailing as much or little as you want. The combination of being looked after by the crew while visiting new destinations every day, makes it a vacation you will never forget.

A typical day on our boats often starts with a lovely and refreshing morning swim. In the meantime, the host prepares your breakfast buffet. Once everyone is full and satisfied, it's off to sea to sail on to the day's destination. While we sail to the next stop, you can sunbathe, swim, read a book or just enjoy the surroundings. As lunch approaches, the kitchen smells good, lunch is usually enjoyed in a turquoise bay followed by swimming from the boat. After lunch, you'll head to an undiscovered harbor, idyllic bay or picturesque town where you'll spend the night. In the evening, you'll have the chance to sample the local cuisine and end the night at a local bar before letting the sea lull you to sleep. Experience the perfect balance on your sailing trip in Italy.

You can also book a whole boat just for your party, bring your family or friends and let our host couple pamper you during your vacation.

A sailing trip in Italy

Below you can read about places we can visit during a week of sailing. Starting from the north-eastern side of Sardinia, we sail on to the La Maddalena archipelago which consists of 7 large and 55 smaller islands. On the other side of the strait is Corsica, a popular stop on the trip is usually Bonifacio, located on the southern tip of Corsica. This is just a selection of places to experience during a sailing trip in Italy with More Sailing. It is important to remember that the route that we sail can vary and it is always adapted to the weather and wind.

Boats we sail with in Italy

During our sailing trips in Italy we sail with Lagoon 42. We choose a large and spacious catamaran with four cabins where up to eight guests can stay comfortably during the sailing trip. The places on board can be booked by a whole party if you want the whole boat for yourself, or by several smaller parties where you also get the opportunity to get to know new acquaintances.

On board the boat, both breakfast and lunch are served around the table in the cockpit. In the saloon, too, everyone has a comfortable place to socialize. The foredeck is usually the favorite place on board the boat, here you can while the boat sails in peace and quiet sunbathing, hear the waves lapping or maybe see a dolphin jumping in front of the bow. At the back of the boat there is a bathing jetty and ladder that makes it easy to get in and out of the cooling sea.

What do our customers think?

We carbon offset your sailing trip

From 2019, More Sailing will carbon offset all sailing trips we organize to 110%. This means that you who travel with us contribute more positively with climate positive measures than the negative co2 impact that your sailing trip has. We also offset all internal travel for staff and other impacts the company has to be at least climate neutral.

CO2 emissions and global warming are a threat to all living things on our planet. Sailing is environmentally friendly but air travel to the sailboat is not. The flight accounts for 95% of the negative climate impact of buying a sailing trip. By More Sailing investing in various climate projects, we compensate the CO2 emissions that the sailing trip gives rise to by 110%.

We do not consider that we buy a clean conscience through climate compensation, but we do something concrete to slow down global warming. Carbon offsetting of CO2 is included in all our sailing trips, it cannot be opted out. Read more here.
