Cancellation insurance

Cancellation insurance is not included in the trip, but you can buy it if you wish. To do so now, click here. It is important that you buy the cancellation insurance when you book the trip if you wish to do so, as cancellation insurance cannot be purchased afterwards. Cancellation insurance can be purchased no later than 48 hours after you have paid for your trip. Please check whether you have cancellation cover in your home insurance or via your bank.

Passports and valuable documents

You must have a passport valid for the duration of your stay in Croatia. Swedish citizens and citizens of other EU countries can travel freely to Croatia with their valid travel document (passport or national ID card). A Swedish driving license is not valid as proof of identity, as there is no indication of nationality. For other nationalities and non-EU citizens, please check what applies in your specific case.

Take the European Health Insurance Card (EU card) with you when traveling within the EU. The card shows that you are registered with the Swedish insurance fund and can be ordered free of charge on the website of the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. To be on the safe side, make copies of your passport, bank cards, airline tickets and other important documents (it is always a good idea to keep one copy at home and one in your bag). Travel insurance

Make sure you have good travel insurance or check with your home insurance. It is also possible to purchase travel insurance through More Sailing, you can do this until the day before departure. To buy travel insurance now, click here.

Check that you have provided us with all the information

Before your sailing trip, we need the first and last name, date of birth and passport number of all travelers as well as the e-mail address and telephone number of those who will have access to the trip's customer portal. If you have any allergies or special requests regarding food, it is important that you enter this in the customer portal well in advance of the trip so that we can adapt the food to your needs. If you are several people traveling together, it is very important that you, as the booking manager, share the information you receive from us with your fellow travelers or alternatively enter your fellow travelers' e-mail addresses in the customer portal so that they also have access to the information.

Optional on Dufour 530 and Excess 15

On the Dufour 530 it is possible to secure a place in a cabin with a double bed in the bow or stern. It costs 800 SEK in addition per person.

On the Excess 15 it is possible to secure a place in a larger cabin in the bow or stern. It costs SEK 1,000 in supplement per person. Please contact us if you are interested. There are a limited number of double beds, so first come, first served.

Sailing in Croatia & living on board a boat

Living on board a boat is not that different from living at home, the main difference being that you have limited space, water and electricity on board. When moored to a buoy or at anchor, you need to be careful to use water sparingly and take short showers. While sailing, you can charge cell phones etc. via 12v outlets and 220V outlets can be used when you are in the marina because you can then connect to shore power. On the larger boats we sail, there is often a generator, when it is running, you can use the 220v sockets even without shore power. In the harbors there are also showers and toilets ashore. The crew on board sleep either in the skipper's cabin or in the boat's saloon.

Departure from and return to Sweden

It is important to check your flight departure time the day before departure. Sometimes airlines make late changes and the time you have on your ticket may change. Check the departure time the day before departure.

If you are flying scheduled flights, you can also check in online, about 24 hours before departure. If you are traveling by charter flight with TUI, you check in at the airport on departure.

If there is a problem at check-in or departure at the airport and the airline cannot help you, call us on the emergency number 031-30 96 300 and press 1. We are available in the morning at departure.

There may also be late changes on your return flight, please check in online also on your return flight or double-check your departure time to make sure no late flight changes have been made by the airline.

Arrival in Split, Croatia

Upon your arrival in Split, Croatia you will be met by staff wearing white shirts and blue shorts with the More Sailings logo on the chest. They will help you find the transfer which will then take you to your marina. The transfer takes about 10-15 minutes. We have our boats in two different marinas, SCT Marina Trogir and Baotic Marina and you will ride different cars depending on which boat you will sail with.

At the marina you will be met by More Sailing staff again and you will meet your crew that you will sail with during the week. Usually the boats are ready from 17.00.

You can store your suitcases/luggage with us during the day in the marina, but please bring your valuables with you. We recommend you pack a beach bag in advance that is easily accessible (alternatively in your hand luggage) to have during the day. Your skipper or host will keep in touch with you during the day to finalize your boarding time.

On Saturday you will have the opportunity to discover beautiful Trogir and its fine beaches.

It takes about 10-20 minutes to walk from the Marina into Trogir. There are small cozy alleys with shops selling everything from olive oil, clothes to souvenirs. There is also a large selection of varied restaurants. In the majority of restaurants you can pay by card, but a clear advantage to have Euro in cash both here and during the trip, it is not everywhere card payment works.

From your marina you can also take a taxi about 10 minutes to Okrug Gornji Beach. Taxi costs about 15 EUR one way. There is a lovely promenade, many different restaurants, grocery store, a nice pebble beach and lovely water. The perfect way to start your vacation. When the boat is getting ready to leave, your skipper or host will contact you.

If you land later in the evening, the boat will be ready on arrival and the crew will show you on board. In the evening, More Sailing's famous pick-up food buffet is served and this first evening we eat together on the boat. The boat sets sail either in the evening or early the next morning depending on weather & wind etc.

For those who booked the trip without flights to Split: If you have booked the trip without flights and transfers, we meet up in the marina you will sail from. Your crew will contact you a few days before departure and inform you which marina your boat is in, the address below.

SCT Marina Trogir, the address is Put brodograditelia 16, 21220 Trogir. Wait between the houses in line with pier C.

Marina Baotic, the address there is Ul. Don Petra Špike 2a, Seget Donji, Trogir.

If you do not see More Sailing staff - call our exchange number 031-30 96 300, and we will come and meet you and you will be introduced to your crew. The boat will cast off either in the evening or early the next morning depending on weather and wind etc.

Air ticket & travel documents

Your flight times will be uploaded to the customer portal shortly after booking and payment of the deposit. These are subject to change until departure. When departure is approaching, the flight ticket will be uploaded in the customer portal and you will receive an email. Checked baggage of 15 kg per person and hand baggage of maximum 5 kg per person are always included. (Note: Remember to pack in a soft bag that fits in the cabin). Closer to departure, you will receive an email as a reminder that you have taken part in our travel information.

Lifejacket

There are life jackets on board the boat that can be used at any time and should be used when the skipper or host deems it necessary. If you prefer to wear a more flexible lifejacket, you are welcome to bring it.

Don't forget to ask the crew on board if you want to learn more about sailing during the trip. Our skilled skippers and hosts are happy to share their knowledge, and anyone who wants to can try their hand at the helm, hoisting sails and reading charts.

Food & drinks on board

Breakfast and lunch are included in the trip as well as all drinks on board in the form of water, soft drinks, coffee / tea, beer and wine (limited selection). Every evening we dock in a harbor or in a bay where there is at least one but usually several restaurants to choose from. When we dock in a bay, the dinghy is taken to shore and the restaurant. The crew on board will be happy to help with tips on good restaurants and to book a table.

Packing list

Pack in a soft bag that you can easily fold and stow away on the boat, hard bags take up a lot of space in the cabin. In addition to packing what you usually pack when you go on a sun vacation, also keep in mind that the sunlight is reflected by the water around the boat. Suggested packing list:

-A pair of good sunglasses

-Sunscreen with high protection factor

-Hat or cap

-Swimming shoes or sandals

-Shoes on board the boat must only have light or white soles, it is best to go barefoot.

-Mosquito repellent

-Many pairs of swimwear

-Something to read

-Board games, UNO, deck of cards

-Snorkeling gear if you want to snorkel in the gorgeous turquoise water

-Seasickness tablets if you get seasick easily

-A thinner raincoat or windbreaker if there is a shower or if the wind feels chilly.

-Extra beach towel, as only one towel per person is included. Please bring a laundry clip or rubber band to mark the beach towel during the week to avoid confusion (sheets and pillowcases are included).

Pack a first change of clothes in your hand luggage - in the unlikely event that your luggage is delayed, it is an advantage to have a change of clothes, swimwear and toothbrush in your hand luggage.

Please note that it is always the traveler's ultimate responsibility to keep abreast of the rules that apply upon departure/entry and the requirements for visas, vaccinations/tests and health declarations as well as insurance requirements. If there is anything during the trip that does not meet your expectations, we want to know about it right away. We aim to solve problems on the spot, so it is important that you inform our staff on site. Don't wait until you get home.

Currency in Croatia

Since January 1, 2023, Croatia's currency is the euro. Since Croatia joined the EU in 2013, it has become increasingly common to pay by card in shops and restaurants. However, on the islands we visit during a sailing trip, some of the restaurants only take cash payments. There are plenty of ATMs in the places we visit during a sailing week if needed.

Weather in Croatia

Croatia has been voted the sunniest country in Europe and has the most hours of sunshine per year. The average temperature along the coast in August is 22-27 degrees. This can be compared to southern Sweden, which has between 12-16 degrees in the same month. The average water temperature is 25 degrees. During the summer months, it rarely rains along the coast of Croatia and often there are only short showers when it does occur. In summer, the air is usually still warm even if it rains. To be on the safe side, it's a good idea to bring a waterproof jacket in case you're unlucky enough to encounter rain clouds, especially if you're traveling with us in spring or autumn when the weather is more variable.

Sail in Croatia and experience the land of a thousand islands

Croatia is often called "the land of a thousand islands", and it's true, there are a total of 1185 islands along the coast, 67 of which are inhabited. During the summer months, Croatia has a very pleasant climate, especially for sailing. The winds are usually just right for sailing, with 6 to 8 m/s being the most common winds. Rarely is there complete calm, and rarely does it blow up to a storm.

Language

Croatia is today a republic bordered by Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east and Slovenia and Hungary to the north. The capital is Zagreb with about 780,00 inhabitants, in the whole country there are about 4,494,750 inhabitants. Croatia became a member of the EU on July 1, 2013. The official language of Croatia is Croatian, which is a Slavic language and uses the Latin alphabet. Serbian, Italian, Hungarian, Slovenian and Czech are also spoken in the country, but by no more than five percent of the population. In Istria, Italian is also an official language.

Surface area

The total area of Croatia is 56 542 km2 and within this area there are so far 10 World Heritage Sites and 10 National Parks. Croatian World Heritage Sites include Diocletian's Palace, a Roman palace enclosing the old parts of the city of Split. Stari Grad, a town on the island of Hvar in Dalmatia, and the city of Dubrovnik are two other Croatian World Heritage Sites. Croatia celebrates its national day on June 25.

Coastal stretch

Croatia today has a 4,800 km coastline and over 1,000 islands to sail between. However, the country's coastline is split in two by the short coastline of Bosnia near Dubrovnik. The Croatian coast is divided into three regions, Dalmatia in the south and the Istrian peninsula in the north, with the Kvarner region in between. Kvarner, which is also an archipelago, includes islands such as Cres, Krk, Pag, Rab and Losinj.

Istria regions

Istria is well known today for its old and beautiful harbor towns. The most beautiful is said to be the city of Rovinj, both Rovinj and the city of Pula were originally built by the Romans. In Pula there is the most well-preserved amphitheater in the world, well worth a visit while you are there. Pula is our starting point for our trips in the northern Croatian archipelago. Istria is also home to the world's smallest town, Hum, with only 23 inhabitants.

Regions Dalmatia

Dalmatia is the most visited region in all of Croatia. This is our starting point when sailing from Split. It stretches from the city of Zadar in the north to the city of Dubrovnik in the south. Dalmatia has been both Roman and part of the city of Venice. This has left its mark in many beautiful towns on the mainland and in the small villages on the islands.

The islands

The Dalmatian coast is filled with islands that are popular tourist destinations especially for sailors. From north to south we have Dugi Otok which is the largest island in the Kornati National Park, Solta, Brac, Hvar, Vis, Korcula, Lastovo and Miljet. Nice and well-visited towns and villages along the coast, which you should definitely not miss while visiting Croatia are Zadar, Sibenik, Primosten, Trogir, Split and Dubrovnik. In Croatia today there are ten national parks, six of which are located right on the coast. From south to north there are Mljet, Krka, Kornati and Brijuni. Brijuni is today very popular among the country's elite.

Wine and food

Croatia has recently become quite popular due to its favorable climate, good wines and wonderful food. However, the food tradition differs a lot depending on where in Croatia you are. In Istria, the Dalmatian and Primorje regions, dishes are inspired by Italian cuisine, but prepared in a particularly Croatian way. Along the coast of Istria, Dalmatia and Primorje, the food is inspired by Italy but prepared in a "Croatian way". Fish, seafood, pasta and pizza are often on the menu. Common dishes include pljeskavica, buzara and ćevapčići. Pljeskavica are large burgers that can be ordered with or without cheese filling. Buzara is a dish where the main ingredient is cooked in a sauce with wine, tomato and spices and is suitable for several types of seafood.

Ćevapčići

So far, ćevapčići is the most famous of all traditional dishes, a type of minced meat rolls served with potatoes, French fries or in lepinja bread, which is similar to pita bread. Along with lepinja bread and ćevapčići, vegetables and ajvar relish, which is a tomato and eggplant relish, are usually served. Roast or grilled beef, lamb and pork are also common today throughout the country.

Delicacies

In Croatia, while enjoying your favorite drink, you can usually also order pancakes in restaurants but also in the streets and squares. Croatian ice cream is an excellent competitor to Italian ice cream both in terms of taste and quality. The ice cream parlors in Croatia often have a wide range of different types of ice cream.

Plenty of wine varieties

Croatian culture promotes wine drinking as a healthy and natural part of food culture, which also means producing large quantities of different wines. These vary in quality depending on the producer and price of course. However, the more famous wines, especially the reds, come from producers such as Dingač, Plavac and Postup. These wines are produced in the southernmost part of the country, namely Dalmatia. When it comes to white wines, these are produced in the northernmost parts and here we find well-known brands such as the leading Muscatel, the tasty Malvazija, Kaštelet and popular Pošip.

Croatia is not only a wine producer, it also has some beer production based on old traditions since the 15th century. Today, the most popular beer producers are Ožujsko and Karlovačko, as well as Osječka Pivovara, which started producing beer in 1856. Last but not least, there are also strong spirits in the form of rakija, a type of brandy made from plums and pears, among other things.

How is sailing in Croatia?

Sailing in Croatia offers postcard-perfect beaches and magical bays with crystal clear, turquoise waters. Along the coast there are fantastic restaurants serving the catch of the day and local wines.

How much do boats lean when sailing?

How you feel that a boat leans is individual and the catamarans that are part of More Sailing's fleet lean relatively little as they have two hulls and move flat. The single-hull boats lean depending on how much it blows and in which direction you sail, at a crossing it leans more than at a leeward point.

If I get seasick - what help can I get on board?

If you suspect that you might get seasick, we recommend that you bring seasickness medicine from home

When is the best time to sail in Croatia?

The best sailing conditions in Croatia are between April and October.

When is the high season in Croatia?

June-September is the high season in Croatia.

How much does it cost to sail in Croatia?

Depending on how you choose to sail in Croatia, there are different price ranges. With More Sailing and with skipper and host on board, it starts from 16500 SEK and depending on the week and type of boat.

Is it expensive in Croatia?

As Croatia has recently adopted the euro, this may affect the development of purchasing power in the country. As in the rest of Europe, the global economic climate and runaway inflation have affected food and service prices, making them more expensive. According to locals, there seems to be a price increase of about 7-9% but it is difficult to know how big the increase will be this year.

What is the cost of a beer or 3-course dinner?

3-course meal for 2 people in a medium-priced restaurant, about Euro 26-80, local beer from the tap (0.5l) Euro 1.73-3.33

Should you tip in Croatia?

In Croatia, tipping is part of the culture. People tip about 10% on average.

Is there AC on board all boats

Many of More Sailing's sailboats are equipped with AC, but not all.

Is it possible to prepare a simple dinner on board if you don't want to go out to eat in a restaurant?

When you sail with More Sailing, we recommend you to go out to a local restaurant in the evening as it is part of the setup of our sailing trips. This is when you get the opportunity to eat and experience the local of the destination.

What if we sail with More Sailing and get blown in for a week and are not allowed to sail at all?

Weather and wind are beyond our control and hopefully you will have a wonderful week on board and can take you by motor to beautiful places along the coasts.

Which is the best/finer/most beautiful beach in Croatia?

There are so many beautiful beaches and hidden gems to visit by sailboat in Croatia that it's hard to name just one. But Zlatni Rat on Brac is a favorite for many of us.

If I am disabled, can I come with you?

As More Sailing's sailing trips are on board sailboats of different sizes and comfort, we find it difficult to accommodate all varieties of disabilities to accompany us. You need to be able to be mobile enough to get on and off the boat by yourself and to be able to move well on board the boat.

What is served on board for lunch?

Our sailing lunches on board are usually a varied main course accompanied by salad or vegetables.

When is lunch served on board approximately every day?

More Sailing skipper and host together with the guests on board plan the day's sailing program and lunch break. This is to ensure that the guests get as adapted and comfortable an arrangement as possible based on weather and wind. The host prepares the food while you have a nice time on board with reading, swimming in the sea or just enjoying being on board.

When is breakfast served each morning?

Depending on the day's program, breakfast time is planned accordingly. The day may start with a swim in the blue and in the meantime a breakfast buffet is prepared.

What is included in the buffet breakfast on board?

Our breakfast buffet on our sailing trips has something for everyone. After a nice morning dip, it is served and eaten before sailing off to new adventures.

How long does the flight down or home to Trogir/Split take?

The flight down takes about 2 hours. The transfer from the airport to the port in Trogir takes about 10-15 minutes.

How and when can I cancel at the latest?

Our travel conditions are: 3.2.1 Cancellation 40 days or more before departure is subject to 40% of the price of the trip. If canceled 39-0 days before departure, 100% of the price of the trip is payable.

When is the latest date I have to buy ERV cancellation insurance?

With More Sailing, you must purchase ERV cancellation insurance within 48 hours of purchasing the trip itself.

How many hours will there be sailing each day?

How many hours you sail per day is up to how you guests, together with the skipper and the host, decide to organize the days.

If I live in e.g. Umeå, can you book all flights down/home?

More Sailing can try to help you book transfer flights from other locations in Sweden to the destinations we have sailing trips to. Contact us at boka@moresailing.se or call us for further assistance.

Which shoe soles are allowed on sailing boats?

In More Sailing's recommended packing list, we have indicated that the shoes on board should be light colored and have a white sole. Furthermore, your luggage should be packed in a soft bag that can be packed together in your cabin.

Are there child seats in the taxis/taxis going to/from the sailing boats?

Yes, there are car seats, to ensure the right seat we need the age of the child.

What is it like to sail single-handed on sailing trips?

More Sailing's themed trips for singles mean that as a single person you don't have to be in the company of couples or families with children. Single travel on a sailboat is for those who travel alone and are open to getting to know new people on the boat during the sailing trip. Our guests come from all over Sweden and in many different ages.

When should the trip be paid, i.e. deposit/registration fee and the remaining total amount?

The organizer, i.e. More Sailing, may charge a first installment (registration fee) in connection with the booking confirmation. The registration fee must be reasonable in relation to the price of the trip and the circumstances in general.
The registration fee is payable directly at the time of booking or no later than 10 days after the booking has been confirmed. The amount is 40% of the price of the trip.
If the traveler has received a deferral of the registration fee at the time of registration, this must be stated on the booking confirmation with information about the latest payment date. The registration is nevertheless binding on the traveler and the minimum cancellation fee is still 40% of the price of the trip.
Final payment must be received by the tour operator no later than 40 days before departure.
