Sailing in the Seychelles

Imagine sailing in the Seychelles, one of the most pristine destinations in the world. You will have a unique proximity to nature and the sea. With its turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and unique wildlife, Seychelles is a paradise that many dream of visiting.

The archipelago is also known for its tropical greenery with nature dressed in fifty shades, high mountains and beautiful granite cliffs. Seychelles is a republic in the western Indian Ocean, off the east coast of Africa and north of Madagascar. The Seychelles offer magical experiences with fantastic sailing waters, wonderful beaches and beautiful scenery. For those who also want to explore, there are plenty of activities to do such as diving, snorkeling, fishing, cycling and hiking.

The flight to the Seychelles takes 13-16 hours from Scandinavia and you should expect to make at least one stopover. You arrive by air on the main island of Mahé and are greeted by a tropical climate with moderately high temperature and humidity, which is slightly tempered by a daily sea breeze. The local crew will meet you and take you on an adventure you won't soon forget.

Sailing in Seychelles with crew

During a sailing trip with us at More Sailing you will experience sailing at its best, without any worries. On board the boat, you are in safe hands with the crew who take care of everything. They cook, guide you to hidden coves with crystal clear waters, recommend restaurants and sail the boat. You have breakfast and lunch on the boat, and dinner is on your own as you explore the village or island where the boat has docked for the night. During the sailing trip there are no musts, for your part it is just to relax and enjoy, of course you can participate in the sailing as much or as little as you want. The combination of being taken care of by the crew while visiting new destinations every day, makes it a vacation you will never forget.

A typical day on our boats often starts with a lovely and refreshing morning swim. Meanwhile, your host prepares your breakfast buffet. When everyone is full and satisfied, we head out to sea to sail on to the day's destination. While we sail to the next stop, you can sunbathe, swim, read a book or just enjoy the surroundings. As lunch approaches, the kitchen smells delicious, lunch is usually enjoyed in a turquoise bay followed by a swim from the boat. After lunch, you move on to an undiscovered port, idyllic bay or picturesque town where you spend the night. In the evening, you'll have the chance to try the local cuisine and end the evening at a local bar before letting the sea lull you to sleep.

Sailing in the Seychelles

Seychelles is not just about dreamy beaches and relaxation. There is also a wide range of activities such as snorkeling and diving among the beautiful coral reefs, sea turtles and colorful fish. The three main islands of the Seychelles are Mahé, Praslin and La Digue. Mahé is the largest island in the country, home to 90% of the population. The island of Praslin has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Praslin's white beaches are world famous for their beautiful palm trees and unique coconuts. La Digue, a gem with its characteristic rock formations and beautiful nature.

On the various islands, you can taste Seychellois cuisine, a mixture of Indian and African flavors. The population speaks mainly Creole, but also some English and French. All the islands are exotic but no two are the same. Here you can read about some of the islands we visit and the different places you can visit on each island in each destination. It is important to remember that the route we sail can vary and it is always adapted to the weather and wind.

Boats we sail with in Seychelles

During our sailing trips in the Seychelles, we sail with a large and spacious catamaran of the model Saba 50, on board the boat can accommodate ten guests and two staff. The places on board can be booked by a whole company if you want the whole boat for yourself, or by several smaller companies where you also have the opportunity to get to know new acquaintances.

On board the boat, both breakfast and lunch are served around the table in the cockpit. Also in the salon, everyone gets a comfortable place to socialize. The foredeck is usually the favorite place on board the boat, here you can while the boat sails in peace and quiet sunbathing, hear the waves or maybe see a dolphin jumping in front of the bow. At the back of the boat there is a bathing bridge and ladder that makes it easy to get in and out of the cooling sea. If you are a larger company that wants to sail a specific boat, we will of course arrange it, warmly welcome to contact us.

What do our customers think?

We carbon offset your sailing trip in Seychelles

From 2019, More Sailing climate compensates all sailing trips we arrange to 110%. This means that you who travel to the Seychelles with us contribute more positively with climate-positive measures than the negative co2 impact that your sailing trip has. We also compensate all internal travel for staff and other impacts the company has to be at least climate neutral.

CO2 emissions and global warming are a threat to all life on our planet. Sailing in the Seychelles is environmentally friendly but the flight to the sailboat is not. Air travel accounts for 95% of the negative climate impact of buying a sailing trip. By More Sailing investing in various climate projects, we compensate the CO2 emissions caused by the sailing trip with 110%.

We do not believe that we are buying a clean conscience through climate compensation, but we are doing something concrete to slow down global warming. Climate compensation of CO2 is included in all our sailing trips, it is not possible to opt out. Read more here.
