When we decide to sail north from Marina Kremik, Zadar is our favorite city to visit. The beauty and originality of Zadar always finds a way to stay in our memories and gets a new visit every year.

The city really has a lot to offer its visitors. A historic old town with prefectly preserved Roman ruins, medieval churches, wonderful museums as well as wonderful beaches and great night life. All this is located on a small peninsula. What makes Zadar even more special is that the city is not crowded with tourists and has unique attractions.

There are some "must see" attractions in Zadar. The most unique ones being the "Sea Organ" and "Greeting to the Sun", and other but not less beautiful ones are the Zadar City Gate, Riva (seaside promenade next to the sea), St. Donat's Church, Forum, Five Wells Square and Kolovare Beach.

Zadar is one of the most modern Croatian cities, citing so many innovations and cosmopolitan cafes and restaurants.

"Greeting to the Sun" or so called "Sun Salutation" is a wonderful creation by Nikola Basic. It is a 22 m wide circle of 300 multi-layered glass plates that collect the sun's energy during the day and light up in the evening. Since Zadar is very famous for its amazing sunsets (gorgeous sky every night), the inspiration to create an installation that greets the sun is not so unexpected to get. Zadar is a very sun-dependent city, and that surely explains why we always feel welcome when we are there visiting.

The Sea Organs are something spectacular. They are "installed" at the edges of the Riva (the promenade next to the sea). The movement of the sea produces sound and plays its own music. The melody is incredibly beautiful.

Something we think is worth mentioning about Zadar is that the Roman ruins appear in a random way from all sides in very many streets. They are well treated and take you back in time in a moment when you can imagine what everything looked like. Magical in a way. In the forum you can sit or lie on many old Roman ruins, read a book or listen to concerts that quite often just pop up without paying an entrance fee.

The square, "Five Wells" is of course also beautiful. On the square, as the name itself says, you will find 5 wells, but behind the wells you will find a real gem, our favorite. Behind the wells you take the stairs up to Zadra's green park. The park is absolutely gorgeous, there are wonderful cafes and restaurants and is perfect when the sun is too strong and you want to hide in the shade for a while. In the square there is also a tower with a museum and observatory.

Marina Dalmacija - Sukosan is the largest marina in Croatia. If you plan to sail north from Marina Kremik, don't miss this city, you will surely always remember Zadar and have many great stories to tell.
