Cities of Croatia: Primosten

13 June 2016

Primosten is a small town in the central part of Dalmatia (Adriatic Sea). Primosten is located on a small peninsula, the most famous peninsula in Croatia. South of Primosten you will find our home marina, Marina Kremik. Primosten is a small town and port on a small peninsula between the bay of Raduca and the bay also called Primosten, 30 km southeast of Sibenik, with a small population of 1745 people.

Economy is based on agriculture, cultivation of vines and olives, fishing and tourism. Primosten is protected from northern winds and has a very mild climate. Bays Vela and Mala Raduca, Primosten and Peles have large beaches. The town is located on the main road (M2, E65). In the 16th century, a bridge was constructed that connected the settlement on the islet with the mainland. And from there comes the name Primosten (Pri - means before, most- means bridge in Croatian).

Primosten is a cozy town with beautiful beaches and nice restaurants. The most famous local specialty is "Lobster a la Primosten". Primosten offers a great choice of homemade food: Prosciutto, cheese in olive oil, lamb, fried meat, healthy and macrobiotic food - chickpeas, olive oil, lentils, and other traditional dishes.

Tasting of the famous local red wine Babic, is a must. Babic is produced from autochthonous wine variety in the famous vineyards around and in Primosten, located on cliffs, even next to our boats.

There are excursions that are organized regularly from Primosten: Primosten Wine Trail (sightseeing tour through the villages of Burnji), visits to Krapanj (Museum of sponges, corals, amphorae and ancient pottery collection) and Zlarin (so-called "coral tours") etc.

It often happens that our guests give Primosten a visit while waiting for their boat to be cleaned, when they want to buy food in larger grocery stores or simply do not want to sail far away the first day, but take it easy, eat good food and get to know the area.
