Ebba blogs about the Atlantic crossing

27 November 2014

Hello all landlubbers!

Here comes the fifth day's report from Miss Malin - and it goes fast. Right now I am sitting at a 45 degree angle at the navigation table while I hear "trim" from the deck. During the last 24 hours we have glimpsed a boat in the distance, which is now approaching. I guess my friends, with a joking dose of competitive instinct, are trying to race the boat.

Earlier in the day, I also practiced trimming the boat with Fredrik and Jacob. My arm muscles are perhaps not fully adapted to a trimmed Gennaker on the Atlantic. BUT, it was really fun! Just seeing open sea, a clear horizon, and rolling waves is really amazing.

Something else we measure the journey by, besides the distance of about 700 miles, is the fruit stashes. Today we got rid of the last melon and pineapple. One really notices how fresh produce quickly deteriorates in humidity.
Let's hope that St. Lucia gives us enough fruits instead. Hope you had a nice day!

Ohooj, Ebba
