Atlantblog: It's getting close...

4/12 Position: 16°54´31"N 48°21´68"W

A couple of days with really good winds have passed and we can see the trip meter starting to rise faster and faster, now we start our approach towards St. Lucia. The information we receive from the race management says that we are maintaining an average speed towards the finish of 8.6 knots. This makes us the 10th fastest boat during the day. Our speed has put us in a good position. We are in 50th place overall and are second fastest in our class. We now have only 24 miles between us and our rival Raya who leads the group. Looking back, there is no one who comes with any major threat.

We are chugging along in the current 12 second winds that are blowing. This should continue over the weekend and hopefully we can start to see land on the horizon on Sunday evening. Now it starts ," Imagine when we see land", "When everything is still and you get to sleep properly", "Here we will celebrate". You start to neglect things, it doesn't feel as important to brush your teeth anymore or to get parmesan cheese for the pasta at lunch, now we want to arrive.
