Visit to Vi La Ut

Friday 3/12

The post is written during the first sleepless night after a week of constant stiff gales and pounding in the hulls.

No major incidents or blues on board, still high atmosphere and lots of laughter. Culinary highlights (eg sashimi on freshly caught dorado) are mixed with cooking tests on an involuntary passenger in the form of flying fish.

The other day, one of the crew got an unexpected visit when he was airing out and a flying fish took off and ended up in the bed, fortunately there were spare sheets at hand.

All of us on board maneuver the boat skillfully and methodically so that the journey is a true pleasure.

Saturday 4/12

A fantastic Saturday morning on board, the smell of freshly brewed coffee seeping into every bunk. Freshly cooked oatmeal porridge is simmering on the stove. A must for everyone on board. Most people wake up alert and rested, while some take a good night's sleep if the guard allows it.

After a few hours we suddenly see the first whale. At least 6-7 meters long. It makes a turn around the boat and disappears. After a little while it comes back with a friend and they both entertain us for about an hour. One of them does a roll right next to the boat and disappears under us. What amazing animals!

Soon it's time for lunch. Today it will be fish stew on yesterday's three Dorados. Mannerström is beautifully sheltered and a star in the Michelin guide is not far away. Suddenly our fishing rod rattles, a wild fight begins and after a while we catch a sailfish of about 1.5 meters.

Back to the seriousness, we fight as hard as we can and believe we will reach land on Thursday. The sun is shining and the wind is about 10m/s.
